As Bugaboo expanded across brands, countries, and marketplaces, the complexity behind getting products ready for launch grew too.

About Bugaboo
Bugaboo built its global reputation with premium strollers and baby gear designed around the needs of modern families.
Today, Bugaboo is a multi-brand parent company owned by Mubadala, with a growing international portfolio shaped by organic growth, new brands, and strategic acquisitions. Its expanding ecommerce presence is an important part of that growth, helping the business reach customers across markets and channels worldwide.
The challenge: Scaling brands and markets without multiplying complexity
For premium baby products, accurate product information is essential to the buying journey. Parents researching strollers, car seats, and high chairs need everything from dimensions and safety certifications to fabric specifications, color options, and accessory compatibility.
As Bugaboo expanded across 16 sales channels in different countries, most of them Amazon marketplaces, managing thousands of localized product attributes became increasingly complex.
At the same time, Bugaboo’s move from Amazon Vendor to Seller created another operational challenge. The company needed an alternative to its direct EDI connection with Amazon, which was costly to maintain, required ongoing development resources, and made it difficult to add new marketplaces.
Together, these changes exposed several limitations in Bugaboo’s existing setup:
-
Product information was spread across multiple systems: Images, product copy, technical specifications, and other content were managed across different systems, making it difficult to maintain one reliable source of product information. Existing systems were also being stretched beyond their original purpose as the volume and complexity of product content increased.
-
Different markets required different product structures and rules: Each brand, category, and region came with its own requirements. Regional compliance standards, marketplace-specific attributes, and localization needs meant teams regularly had to adapt product information manually before it could be published.
-
Product launches required too much manual work: Bugaboo relied heavily on third-party agencies for channel content and manual feed preparation. Getting new products and seasonal collections ready for marketplaces could therefore take several weeks, creating a bottleneck at exactly the moment when speed mattered most.
Building one connected product and marketplace operation
Bugaboo partnered with Salsify and ChannelEngine to connect two critical parts of its digital commerce operation: preparing product information for each market and managing day-to-day marketplace selling execution.
Salsify provides the product content and experience management (PXM) layer, giving Bugaboo control over how it structures, governs, and prepares product information for different markets. ChannelEngine handles marketplace operations and order flow, connecting that product information with the channels where Bugaboo sells.
Key components of the setup include:
-
Flexible data structures for multiple brands and markets: Rather than forcing every brand and category into the same structure, Salsify allows Bugaboo to manage different product hierarchies, localized content, and market-specific requirements within one flexible data model.
-
Automated governance and market readiness: Readiness policies, market-specific eligibility rules, and approval workflows help ensure product data is complete and meets the right requirements before it is published to a channel.
-
Structured syndication across commerce channels: Native connectors, including Amazon and Salesforce Commerce Cloud, help move structured product information from Salsify to Bugaboo’s international commerce channels. This reduces manual feed preparation and the need for agency-led workarounds.
-
Marketplace operations without custom integrations: ChannelEngine manages offers, pricing, inventory, orders, returns, and other day-to-day marketplace processes across countries. Separate environments help Bugaboo organize different regional and back-end setups, while maintained marketplace integrations reduce the development work required to keep pace with changing Amazon requirements.

From manual preparation to repeatable marketplace launches
Instead of coordinating manual spreadsheets, feeds, and agency-led processes for each launch, the team can work through a more consistent and repeatable process.
For Rico, that has fundamentally changed how the team approaches launches.

The results: Faster launches and scalable growth
Launch preparation reduced to one day: New products and seasonal collections can now be prepared for marketplaces in one day, compared with several weeks previously.
90% of relevant processes automated: Automated workflows have replaced much of the manual copy-pasting, spreadsheet reformatting, and feed preparation previously required. The team can now manage more of this work internally, reducing reliance on external agencies and freeing up time for marketplace growth and optimization.
Expansion from 4 to 10 Amazon markets: With ChannelEngine, Bugaboo expanded from four Amazon markets (US, UK, Germany and Spain) to ten, adding France, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Japan and Canada. New markets can be connected with less development work, while maintained marketplace integrations reduce the resources and costs required to keep up with changing Amazon requirements.
Marketplace GMV continues to grow: Bugaboo has also continued to grow its marketplace business alongside these operational improvements. Amazon GMV increased 16% year over year, while total marketplace GMV in June 2026 was 65% higher than in June 2025.
At the same time, centralized product content and structured workflows help Bugaboo maintain more consistent product information across the countries and channels where it sells.
What's next: Expanding without rebuilding the operation
For Bugaboo, the value of the new setup goes beyond making today's operation more efficient. It provides a repeatable model for entering new markets without rebuilding the underlying processes each time.
That is already shaping the company's next phase of expansion, with another two or three Amazon markets on its roadmap.
