About Spreetail

Founded in 2006, Spreetail is a full-service ecommerce accelerator that helps brands scale across major online marketplaces. What started as a small eBay seller has grown into a powerhouse operation managing roughly 50,000 SKUs globally, and 100% of the company's business is driven through ecommerce and marketplace channels.

Spreetail's edge lies in its specialization in heavy and bulky products, combining deep logistics expertise with marketplace strategy and proprietary technology. The company supports leading brands across categories like Home & Garden, Pool & Spa, Sporting Goods, and Outdoor Living, selling on 20+ marketplaces including Amazon, Walmart, Target, TikTok Shop, Best Buy, Lowe's Marketplace and Macy's.

Spreetail's technology strategy combines proprietary systems with carefully selected third-party platforms, optimizing for speed, scalability, and the best outcomes for brand partners.

The challenge: Scaling marketplaces without scaling complexity

As Spreetail expanded its marketplace footprint and brand portfolio, the operational complexity grew alongside it. Managing listings, inventory, pricing, and errors across multiple channels required significant coordination, and each marketplace had its own requirements, workflows, and systems, making consistency difficult to maintain at scale.

At the same time, direct API integrations with each new marketplace required meaningful development time, creating competing priorities for Spreetail’s engineering team.

Spreetail needed a centralized solution that could keep pace with their ambitions.

The solution: Centralized operations and a real partnership

Spreetail evaluates both proprietary development and best-in-class third-party platforms based on what best serves its brand partners. ChannelEngine was selected as part of that blended approach, providing a centralized integration layer that complements Spreetail's internal technology and allows engineering resources to stay focused on differentiated, high-priority work.

ChannelEngine offered a single integration point to manage product data, inventory, pricing, and orders across all channels, removing the need to build and maintain separate connections for each marketplace. It was also among the first platforms Spreetail evaluated that had meaningfully integrated AI into everyday operations.

"ChannelEngine was ahead of the curve when it came to AI.  AI is already deeply embedded in how we run our business. On the catalog side, having it built into our channel management workflow has made a real difference in how fast we can move and how efficiently we manage our assortment.”

Millie Anderson, Senior Manager, Marketplace & DTC Expansion at Spreetail

The migration was seamless. Working against a hard deadline, ChannelEngine integrated with Spreetail's existing listings and enabled an immediate transfer of pricing and inventory data, while the team continued refining categories and mappings. Existing catalog content was preserved in full, and none of the work already built was lost.

➡️ Faster execution through automation and AI

One of the most meaningful day-to-day improvements came from ChannelEngine's AI-powered category mapping and catalog management tools. Previously, identifying missing product attributes meant clicking into each individual listing one by one. With ChannelEngine, Spreetail's team can view their entire catalog at once, filter instantly by missing attributes, and take action immediately.

"The mapping section in ChannelEngine is a lot cleaner. Now we can look at our whole catalog, quickly identify what’s missing, and take action right away. Before, it was much more of a struggle, having to download sheets and find items manually. It just wasn’t efficient at scale."

AI-assisted category mapping automated the process of matching products to marketplace-specific categories that previously required significant manual effort across every new channel launch.

➡️ The Best Buy launch: 9,686 SKUs, a fraction of the time

The Best Buy channel launch put ChannelEngine's impact into sharp focus. Bringing nearly 10,000 SKUs live manually would have taken several months. With ChannelEngine, Spreetail reduced that time by more than 50%.

At the listing level, time per SKU dropped 80%, freeing significant team capacity across catalog management and integrations.

Beyond listings, software integration timelines were reduced by more than 75%, allowing Spreetail's engineering team to focus on higher-value internal work.

➡️ A partnership built for long-term growth

ChannelEngine has become a valued component of Spreetail’s marketplace technology stack – one part of a broader strategy that puts their brand partner outcomes at the center.

"ChannelEngine has allowed us to move faster, reduce manual work, and scale our assortment across channels without adding operational complexity. We've been able to launch significantly more SKUs in a much shorter timeframe, while also saving meaningful developer resources on integrations.

On top of that, ChannelEngine truly operates as a partner; they're always open to feedback and focused on continuously improving their tools to better support our needs."

As Spreetail enters its third decade, plans include launching more brand-specific environments, expanding into new marketplaces globally, and onboarding additional brands, powered by a technology strategy that combines the best of proprietary innovation and strategic partnerships.
